Overview

As Account Director you have full commercial and operational responsibility for a portfolio of clients taking a variety of monitoring and analysis services as well as the teams needed to service them successfully and profitably. You will be expected to retain and build this group of clients, growing revenues and profits, while establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring that CARMA is optimising the value of its monitoring and insights services. You will also play a key role in supporting new business initiatives within the sector.

A successful Account Director will challenge themselves, their teams and their clients – driving our offer forward through service design, innovation, high-quality reporting, consultancy and training. You will be responsible for producing the pinnacle of CARMA’s strategic reports for clients, finding the best ways to represent data to help your clients make good business decisions.

You will also be expected to contribute to the future direction and strategy of the business and to be proactive in the broader communications industry, building networks and driving thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial ownership of your clients, ensuring renewals of existing contracts while upselling additional services
  • Ensuring clients run at appropriate levels of profitability, identifying and troubleshooting low-profitability accounts and developing solutions to increase profitability.
  • Project management across each client’s range of services ensuring that delivery is executed to a high-quality and professional level
  • Providing consultancy to your clients, advising them on how to get the maximum value from the service from initial scope and design through to identifying priority insights and recommendations
  • Line management of the Account Managers and Account Executives in your team, providing leadership and drive. Upskilling team members through training, mentoring and personal development plans and ensuring that they perform to a high-quality level, providing excellent written reports, advice and consultancy to your clients.
  • Ensuring all of your clients’ contracts, Purchase orders, briefs, coding manuals and other relevant paperwork are signed off, up to date and filed correctly
  • Ensuring all account revenues are correctly communicated in a timely manner for client invoicing
  • Driving innovation across CARMA’s Insights services, including quality of commentary, data integration, data visualisation and reporting formats
  • Escalating roadblocks to Client Services Director/CEO in a timely manner with suggestions for solutions
  • Actively contributing to the direction and strategy of the business, working closely with the senior management team, communicating effectively vertically in both directions within the office and CARMA’s global teams
  • Building industry networks and driving thought-leadership through trade organisations and other groups, speaker platforms, blogs, webinars and other forms of content marketing

Qualifications

What You’ll Need To Succeed

Blend of behavioral competencies, technical competencies, languages and experience needed:

  • Strong track-record in media analysis, media intelligence market research, social media or marketing analytics.
  • Expert knowledge of best practice in the communications evaluation sector, latest industry trends, topics and issues
  • Experience of speaking at communications industry events or contributing to thought-leadership based content marketing
  • Track-record of leading multiple, complex, research-based projects
  • Team management, delegation and motivation
  • Ability to communicate assertively and effectively to command respect with different job levels from junior communications executives to the most senior heads of communication and board members.
  • Ability to quickly identify, prioritise and communicate what is important – from the content of our insights deliverables to the overall running of the service itself.
  • Analytical and process-orientated mindset with an ability to rapidly learn new tools and techniques
  • Analytical and strategic mind-set
  • Commercial awareness coupled with effective closing capabilities
