Chip Griffin

Chief Strategy Officer

Chip Griffin is Chief Strategy Officer at CARMA, where he helps drive innovation, connect product decisions to what clients actually need, and communicate clearly to the market. Chip co-founded CustomScoop, a media monitoring company acquired by CARMA in 2015, and went on to serve as CARMA’s North American CEO and later as its Chief Operating Officer.

He has spent more than 30 years in communications, technology, and media measurement. Chip started in the industry as a junior account executive at a PR agency and has since founded, grown, bought, and sold more than half a dozen businesses, giving him a broad perspective to draw from. He was also one of the first Chief Digital Officers at a major public relations firm, where he helped build and scale a digital communications practice. That mix of operating and entrepreneurial experience shapes how he approaches strategy: grounded in what works, skeptical of what only sounds good.

Chip advises owners of PR and marketing agencies through SAGA, the firm he founded to help leaders build businesses worth owning, and remains a frequent speaker and commentator. He has spent much of his career at the leading edge of communications innovation, launching his first blog in 1999 and recording his first podcast in 2006, well before either reached the mainstream. Outside of work, he spends his free time on sports and portrait photography.
