THE CEO MEDIA INDEX:
SINGAPORE

How are Singapore’s top CEOs portrayed in the media, and what shapes their perception?

CARMA’s latest CEO Media Analysis Report reveals which leaders command media visibility, how sustainability shapes reputation, and why strong performance doesn’t always mean positive coverage.

Methodology

CARMA determined the CEO sample from the Straits Times Index, which tracks the top 30 SGX‑listed companies. Media mentions were measured across these leaders, with analysis focused on the ten CEOs receiving the highest coverage.

Sentiment was assessed using CARMA’s Favourability Rating System to ensure objective scoring.

Time period: October 2025 to January 2026

Media Type: Online

Media List: 48 Tier 1 Mainstream Singaporean media outlets

Strong performance influences perceptions of leadership, but does not guarantee positive CEO coverage

Strong financial results do not always translate into favourable coverage. Even top-performing companies faced critical leadership headlines, suggesting that operational missteps and governance concerns can quickly outweigh strong market performance in shaping public perception.

Coverage Volume Does Not Equal Favourability

Media visibility does not always translate into positive perception. While DBS CEO Tan Su Shan generated the most coverage, Hongkong Land CEO Michael T. Smith achieved a similarly strong favourability profile with far fewer mentions, suggesting that tone and context often matter more than sheer volume of attention.
